Relationships can be a tricky thing to navigate, however, there are tools you can use to be successful. It can be frustrating when you want harmony and misunderstanding is at your door. You can curb the frustration by openly communicating with your partner. Tell them everything that you would tell a best friend. In addition, be honest. Describe how you’re feeling. A healthy relationship is like a dance. Information is given. After that, the information is then translated to movement.

The movement keeps the engagement. How you initiated the relationship is how you should continue. For example, if you were the type to buy flowers for each date or whatever, don’t suddenly stop that. If it’s not in the budget, find other ways to be thoughtful to your partner. Be authentic and keep that commitment to yourself and to your partner. In the same vein, you are doing yourself a disservice if you’re keeping up with the everyone else but not being true to self. You’re allowed to learn and grow with/without your partner.

Having a ritual is not as woo woo as you may think. Start by: What can we do together to enhance our bond? What things do we do together that really work for us? I want to keep inspiring my partner. Getting creative is part of the dance. Use what you have. Learn new skills. Learn your partner well. Lastly, whatever you do, don’t stop dancing.

During your relationship, take the time to groove with your partner. If you aren’t grooving well, don’t get discouraged. Shake things up. Switch positions. Try something new. Go to a new place. Meanwhile, build up your friendship.

Ritual of Connection can include but not limited to:

1. An activity that will keep you in shape and healthy is great for bonding and keeping the fires burning in your relationship.

2. Activities that both of you express interest in–Netflix and Chill, a night out on the town, gaming, reading—celebrate and invest in your hobbies that overlap.

3. Activities that will keep the flame burning in the romance department–Date night, quality time, tantra, meditation etc.

These are a good starting point for those who want a ritual to enhance your relationship.
